Listen: TNGHT – Acrylics
They might have added production work for Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Kanye West to their CV since we last heard from TNGHT, but ‘Acrylics’ thankfully confirms the duo were never in danger of losing track of what made their own work so initially exciting.
Returning with another considered ballad – sorry, another absolute banger – the characteristically bass heavy ‘Acrylics’ starts hyper enough, throws itself at the sky, drops, stops, dusts itself down, hurls itself toward the ceiling again, drops again, and so on. Big or clever it ain’t (well, alright, it’s big) but the combination of Hudson Mohawke’s mastery of keeping things together with Lunice’s penchant for all things bonkers works a treat, resulting in a tune that’s as unhinged as it is powerful.
