Listen: Swearin' – Dust In The Gold Sack [Premiere]
Where grunge sensibilities collide in a compact space with raw, DIY punk aesthetics you’ll find Swearin’. Where saccharine vocals and gently strummed acoustic guitars lul you into a false sense of security before descending into a (albeit controlled) chaos, you’ll find their brilliant number ‘Dust In The Gold Sack’.
Streaming below, the latest number to come from the minds of Allison Crutchfield (yes the sister of Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield), guitarist Kyle Gilbride bassist Keith Spencer and drummer Jeff Bolt is the perfect mix of mess and restraint.
Crank it up loud enough and visions of legendary house-parties flash before your widening eyes, keep things on a more moderate setting and every element shines in its own way – the band’s incredible songwriting skills bubble to the surface on a frenzied wave of fuzzed out guitars, crashing symbols and Allison’s perfectly bitter sweet vocals.
Surfing Strange is due out 4 November via Wichita Recordings.
