Every so often, a producer and a singer team up that are so perfect for each other that it seems like fate. When SBTRKT teamed up with Sampha, magic happened that thrust both their careers into exciting places, particularly Sampha’s BBC Sound of 2014 nomination. The same seems to be happening with Kwabs and SOHN who’ve teamed up once more on the fantastic “Wrong Or Right”.
The London singer has previously worked with Vienna-based rising producer SOHN on the beautifully soulful “Last Stand” and, like there, Kwabs’ deliciously earthy, soulful voice works so perfectly with SOHN’s digitally rich soundscapes. It’s like pairing the perfect bottle of wine with a meal, taking the whole thing to a whole other level.
“Wrong Or Right” is a much more chart-friendly affair than “Last Stand” but there’s so much to be drawn in and just completely knocked for six by here. Kwabs’ worn croon soars above SOHN’s lush production that made previous works with the likes of BANKS stand out.
“Wrong Or Right”, as well as “Last Stand” and his first single “Spirit Fade”, are due to be released on his upcoming four track EP Wrong Or Right on February 3rd.
