Listen: Blaue Blume – Helen [Premiere]
Falling hard and fast as we did for Blaue Blume back in March has only made the wait for fresh material seem even longer, but after a few months of silence, we’re thrilled to welcome the Copenhagen outfit back with the premiere of ‘Helen’ today.
Still carrying a similar air of Wild Beasts, Jonas Smith’s quivering intro, ‘Would you even look at me if my body burned?’ tessellates once more with dramatically tolling guitars and an increasingly expansive beat.
Framing the long-locked lotharios against a more portentous backdrop than their delicate, lucid-dreaming debut with Smith’s caustic thrums of ‘Helen, Helen, Helen’ whirling into glassy cymbals and murmuring guitar strokes. An utterly poised but ultimately doomed pop-rock romance.
