We’re not fans of overwrought identity ‘reveals’ but we have to admit, Brooklyn’s Glass Gang are slowly peeling back the façade and actually keeping things interesting.
Not only do they have something to say, ‘The Fall’ is the third in their series of four free downloads, they’re gradually revealing more of their image with each new drop. We’ve gone from battered boots and black jeans up to monochrome tees and vampy jewelry, and now we’re seeing a glimpse of their countenances for the first time. It’s all very clever.
‘The Fall’, as with previous tracks, ‘Time’ and ‘Waves’, takes cues from shoegaze bands Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine whilst keeping an eye trained on Trent Reznor’s dystopian electro and more contemporary atmospheric influences in James Blake too. More buzzing guitars, sharp programmed beats and drip-drop synth lines cement Glass Gang as one of the most important new discoveries of the summer months.
