Listen: Gavin James - "Nervous" [Premiere]
22-year-old Dubliner Gavin James, born to a rich musical heritage - his maternal great-grandparents were both lauded Irish Opera stars who released LPs in the early 1900s - has already won over hearts in his native land with the Say Hello EP.
That release stayed in charts for half a year. On top of that, he's won the Choice Music Prize for Song Of The Year. Not bad, eh?
This new number, "Nervous", is a skeletal paean that thrives on the interplay of dynamics and melody. The most delicate falsetto and fingerplucking cavort between acres of echo; it's heartfelt and utterly sincere pop.
"Nervous" is taken from James' forthcoming live LP, Live At Whelans. The collection is a set of old and new material performed at a homecoming show. Pre-order it here or digitally here.

Live At Whelans is due 3 December via Believe / Good Soldier Songs. His debut proper is expected at some point in 2015.
