Londoner Fyfe almost short-circuited The Hype Machine with debut track ‘Solace’ last month, now the enigmatic producer has stepped out of the shadows revealing himself to be Paul Dixon: who cast off his previous alias David’s Lyre in 2012.
Dixon serves up more of the same yearning electronica with this beautiful new Fyfe piece ‘St Tropez’. It’s another gloriously understated arrangement, allowing Dixon’s crystalline vocal to flow freely; his despondent lyricism offset by strokes of glimmering guitar, cascading cymbals and even a triumphant brass section. With an affinity for pop hooks as strong as his, Fyfe’s true identity was never going to remain a secret for long.
