Spring is in the air: the snow is beginning to melt, the sun is ignoring its winter curfew, birds are returning to their summer homes; in what’s quickly becoming a Spring tradition, South London’s COMPNY have also dropped another standout single.
The five-piece first wowed us with last April’s “Begging Me To Come Back”, and the radiant “Lovers” picks right up where we left off. Like its predecessor, this is pure pop dipped in a summery sheen. With its mellow blend of acoustics and pianos, and not one but two “ooh ooh ooh” vocal refrains, “Lovers” gives the feeling of diving headfirst into sunset-tinged waves. Who couldn’t use a bit of that at the moment?
