The indie-pop world is stuffed with geographical references – from Bristol buzzband Coasts to Californian duo Capital Cities and dreamy San Fran outfit Geographer - now it’s COIN’s turn, with their second, cracking single, ‘Atlas’.
This is right on the button, infectious Darwin Deez guitars are sugar-coated with chirpy synths and foot-stomping drums. Like previous single ‘Honey’, the track has a super-sized chorus of Neon Trees or Walk The Moon proportions, and everything folds together perfectly, the icing on the cake being Chase Lawrence’s sunkissed vocals. Catchy and addictive, ‘Atlas’ is the kind of late-summer feelgood tune we all need, and it proves the Tennessee four-piece’s ear-candy is addictive enough to give any of their peers a run for their money. Sorry.
