Listen: Bo Rocha - "Tangerine Flake"
London-based singer/produced Bo Rocha - real name Kate Sproule - has pulled the trigger on debut track "Tangerine Flake".
The title might sound like a new product hint to Cadbury's, but the song's actually "inspired by the colourful writings of Tom Wolfe", and Rocha seeks to set to sound "that concise emotional moment when the human mind commits to taking a risk." It's bold and ambitious, especially for a debut cut, but nothing about Rocha screams 'safe', and that's what makes her such an enthralling presence.
Warped pop hooks and skewiff soul synths pirouette amongst the hollow clang of percussion, and Rocha's vocal threads disperse into miasmatic vapours, hellbent on infecting your brain with big melodies.
