While you were busy gorging yourself on room temperature Cadbury’s this Easter weekend, ambient-electro wunderkind Balam Acab slipped out of the shadows for fractionally long enough to drop a pair of previously unreleased, unmixed and unmastered tracks in the form of ‘La La La’ and ‘Luminesce’.
Both tracks are presumed to be off-cuts from the Wander / Wonder LP sessions – a testament to the record’s strength in depth really – with ‘Luminesce’ in particular proving to be a glorious memento of the Pennsylvanian producer’s unparalleled command over oceanic bass plunges, dissonant percussion and gossamery synth textures. Work starts on a full-length follow up this month so there’s still plenty of time to immerse yourself in these haunting demos.
