Listen: astronomyy - "Pack Of Wolves"
There’s something to be said for astronomyy’s exciting blend of R&B beats, pop synths, London Grammar-esque guitars and emotively melodic vocals; it’s breathy, sparse and chilled.
The latest track to be unveiled from the Worcestershire-based singer/producer’s highly anticipated There For U EP is the brilliantly melancholic “Pack of Wolves”.
Much like the previous cuts from the EP, the track seamlessly blends hip-hop influences with the cool breeziness of Californian pop rock. The minimal production (and a rather stunning 8 bit style synth) is refreshingly tight, despite the song’s openness, as layered vocals on the chorus provide a sense of rising energy that quickly drops back into the verses.
It’s strange how a song with so little pomp can provide so many different layers, as astronomyy exemplifies why Roc Nation have gotten involved. This is deceptively emotive, summery faux-R&B Pop at its best.
