KYLYPSO open up another dimension on “Honestly”
The follow up to their blissed-out psych adventure “Deep Blue”, “Honestly” is a snapshot of the band hurtling towards a new and exciting sound.
KYLYPSO started strong at the beginning of the year with an ambitious debut release alongside a self-made zine. The Bow three-piece consisting of Tom Greenwood, Hugh Fothergill and Rudi Falla has been forming a distinct sound in their east London studio with the songs translating into a vast and expansive live show.
“Honestly”, the band’s latest endeavour, is an uplifting track which combines the syncopated groove of ‘80s wunderkids Scritti Politti with more modern production elements. This is a song that doesn't take itself too seriously, which is refreshing.
In their own words: “Honestly” was written around the idea of escaping the world without moving from your room, in hiding with someone and shutting out the world - there is an internal freedom to explore. “We wanted to have fun with the idea of achieving something by doing nothing. We usually open our live set with this song and feel it’s got a double edge of fun, light-hearted groove, against deeper, more epic melodies”
