JP Cooper’s September Song breezes us gently into Autumn
As summer slips away, singer-songwriter JP Cooper showcases his distinctive vocals on the reggae-influenced “September Song”.
It’s set to be one of the more pop-influenced cuts from his debut album, due early next year.
“It’s definitely soulful,” he tells us, when asked how he would define his sound. “I wouldn’t particularly call it one thing. There’s moments of a lot in there. I’ve definitely got a palette I like to work with. It’s a blend of organic with modern sounds. A lot of the sounds I’m using are hip-hop samples - obviously it’s not hip-hop, but I think it has a similar spirit to some of that.
“I’m looking forward to taking it out on the road,” he adds, noting that he’s heading out on tour this October. “It’s such a different experience from making a record.”
