Grimm Grimm enlists the help of Bo Ningen on new Church version of "Knowing"
Grimm Grimm is sharing an alternate version of "Knowing" now, exclusively on Best Fit.
The Japanese-born, London-based artist recently announced his debut album Hazy Eyes Maybe, which is set to be released June 29 via ATP Recordings.
Grimm Grimm is the new moniker of Koichi Yamanoha, the former frontman of Screaming Tea Party. We've already heard the title track from his upcoming LP, and now we're getting a glimpse at the next track - a collaboration with longtime friends, Bo Ningen, called "Knowing". This is a special B-side edition of the track, which won't feature on the main album's tracklist.
Speaking about this edit of "Knowing", Yamanoha says:
"I basically wanted this song to sound like a big iron tower. I’ve managed to make sounds like it for this original version for my album, but I still wanted to make an even heavier version, minimal yet almost death metal sound alike. So I called Bo Ningen up and they all said yes. We went to this church in Hampstead Heath and my friend Tim Garratt did the recordings. The neighbours kept banging on the door of the church for ages to stop us, but we couldn't hear as the sound was so loud. It was great. It all went very smoothly. They played as if they knew the song for ever, so I didn't even have to explain how to play it or what it's about."
On Friday 24 April, Grimm Grimm will play the ATP Pop Up Venue (formerly Total Refreshment Centre) in London, alongside Younghusband, Eaux and more. Bo Ningen will join him onstage for a special performance of "Knowing". Tickets can be grabbed here.
The "Hazy Eyes Maybe"/"Knowing (feat. Bo Ningen)" 7" is released on 4 May.
