Poppy Hankin, Iris McConnell and Sophie Moss are North London's Girl Ray. The band's sweetly self-critical new single "Trouble" follows up the down-and-out, lo-fi pop vibe of Best Fit premiere “I’ll Make This Fun”.
As Girl Ray ready their debut album for an anticipated Spring 2017 release, the delight in listening to “Trouble” springs from the trio’s flair for wrapping up pointed self-criticism in bright and breezy harmonies reminiscent of '60s pop.
The band says the song is about “apathy and hating yourself for trying to win pointless arguments in snakey ways. It’s about turning into someone you don't like.”
“Trouble” is slated for release as a limited edition 7” single on 25 November via Moshi Moshi’s Singles Club and will be backed with B-side "Where Am I Now". The band will support Haley Bonar, Slow Club, and Our Girl during a series of upcoming U.K. tour dates. Find out more on Facebook.
