George Maple captivates with dancefloor-ready summer jam "Kryptonite"
A swirling fusion of slinky beats and sultry vocals, "Kryptonite" is the latest sensual offering from George Maple.
Taken from her debut album that’ll be released later this year, "Kryptonite" is a subtle disco anthem. Light synths envelop the listener, as Maple’s gliding vocals lead you through the smoky verse towards the euphoric, carefree chorus. Diana Ross and Janet Jackson influences are interlaced and embellished, fused with modern electronics and youthful ardour.
Australian-born Maple is already an accomplished writer and producer, with her credits including Snakehips and Flume, and her impressive resume is evident here, with every aspect of the track being shrewdly thought out. Sparkling production sits adroitly behind resonant vocals; with the delicate percussive whirs subtly driving the track forward, without being overbearing.
"'Kryptonite' is about acceptance, love, freedom and spirit," Maple explains. "It is about letting go, finding pleasure in imperfections, celebrating community, embracing sexuality in all forms, expelling stereotypes, being free from your own shackles, letting the misery, the heartbreak, and the 'forbidden' inspire rather than consume."
A ready-made barbeque jam, "Kryptonite" is slice of summer, urging you to forget your inhibitions and instead to head straight to the dancefloor.
