‘Sinking Stone’ has the kind of guitar sweeps and bass-driven/heart-in-mouth percussion that reveals an incredible grasp of musical empathy at work. It’s crafted rather than simply written and produced, with the band’s evolving debt to soulful eighties pop becoming ever more complex and fascinating.
