Frida Sundemo's new dance-pop tune "Stay Young" is a transcendent paean to youth [Premiere]
Stockholm resident Frida Sundemo plumps for macro introspection on her dance-pop charmer "Stay Young".
There's a trance-like euphoria in Sundemo's emotional repetition of "we stay young/as long as we are breathing/we stay young at heart/we stay young," and it's easy to imagine this skittering across dancefloors worldwide remixed by some chart-topping DJ.
As it stands, it's a little more honest, and a little more transcendental; it's not a screaming from the rafters type of sentiment, but a mantra to internalise with sincere smiles and low-key glory. Sundemo's proved in the past that she can strike deep into our cores, but on this single she lifts up our hands in hers, and cheers with us as champions.
Sundemo's latest EP Lit Up By Neon - which includes single "Drawn To You" - is out now on our sister label Best Fit Recordings. Last year, Sundemo dropped a massive track called "The Sun" which you should take a look at.
