Hillary Clinton and Selena Gomez inspire Fletcher on "Princess"
Rising pop star FLETCHER shares powerful music video for “Princess” taken from her debut EP Finding Fletcher.
Speaking to us earlier in the year the New York-based singer-songwriter told us how “Princess” is her “most personal record”, having written the song “during a time in my life when a lot of females around me who I loved and admired were going through some difficult times and I was as well.”
“Princess” is “about holding your head high and embracing all of the hard shit life throws your way because it builds character and we come out the other side as stronger women,” Fletcher explained as she talked us through her EP. This message is what the music video portrays, with many examples of different “princesses”.
Following in the footsteps of pop’s politically and culturally aware stars, and taking inspiration from both Selena Gomez’s speech at the American Music Awards and Hillary Clinton’s concession speech, Fletcher vows to continue using her voice fighting the good fight, at a time when the world really needs it.
