Alt. pop queen FEMME returns from touring with Charli XCX with the dazzling "Gold"
South London pop soloist FEMME is back with solid 24-carat pop in "Gold".
Following on from her incredible bass banger "S.O.S" earlier this year, "Gold" may have lighter feet than its predecessor but is no less infectious with its sparkling choral harmonies and blasts of brassy synth.
What keeps FEMME endlessly exciting is her penchant for off-kilter pop that stands out from the crowd of tedious modern pop music. "Gold's" curveball key changes and idiosyncratic makeup are testament to that, as is the pop soloist's brilliant output to date.
Speaking about the track, FEMME says: “I wrote 'Gold' after spending many days watching ABBA videos and late nights dreaming of Shirley Bassey. It's about being blinded by someone's immaculate golden veneer to the point of not realising you may not be in love at all."
Blind in love or truly in love, we believe we're the latter.
"Gold" is released on 4 December.
