Dama Scout chew up rhythms on biting new single "Toothache"
Fuzzy three-piece Dama Scout have pulled the ripcord on "Toothache", their wonkiest offering yet.
"Toothache" comes after "Sugar" - did Dama Scout time their single releases to make a pun? - and both join up with lead single "Suzie Wong" to tease Dama Scout's debut self-titled EP.
The Glasgow-formed, London-based pals sew twinkling guitars and jerky basslines together for "Toothache", with vocals from frontwoman Eva Liu forced to navigate the ruckus. Contrasting rhythms square off at almost every turn, adding a mathy dimension to Dama Scout's sweet take on shoegaze - it's an intriguing development, and one that comes together in its closing moments as all the individual pieces align for one final payoff-slash-wall of noise.
Dama Scout's newest track comes ahead of a support date in London with rising Australian rocker Alex Lahey, and a trek across the UK with Toronto's Weaves. They also play a headline date in the capital in the new year - find out more about their live plans.
