The follow up to her debut release via a major label, “Navy Blue” firmly establishes Charlotte Lawrence on the contemporary alt-pop scene.
Following her self-aware pop banger “Why Do You Love Me”, the opening arrangement for Charlotte Lawrence's new track lays the nineteen-year-old singer-songwriter’s characteristically ethereal vocals over a delicate guitar melody. Romantically nihilistic lyrics (“We’ve got delusions of a grand oblivion / we’re only happy when we’re higher than the sun”) build the song towards a powerfully bass-heavy chorus.
If “Navy Blue” is a reflection of Lawrence’s upcoming EP, due for release later this year, we’ve got a lot to look forward to.
“Navy Blue” is out now via Atlantic/Gold Tooth records. Find Charlotte Lawrence on Instagram.
