Listen: Celestial Shore – Swimmer's Sinking Feeling ft. Empress Of
Brooklyn three-piece Celestial Shore have revealed the closing track off their debut full-length 10x, ‘Swimmer’s Sinking Feeling’, mixed by Deerhoof’s Greg Saunier and featuring guest vocals from Empress Of’s Lorely Rodriguez.
Known for their short but sweet EPs full of manic melodies and trippy rhythms, ‘Swimmer’s Sinking Feeling’ promises a departure from their previous sound; the song is sequential, beginning oddly enough with old-school emo falsettos and twinkly guitars.
The progression of the song is guided by the addition of Lorely’s soothing ‘ooh’s and ‘ah’s, which leads the delicate intro into a 90s lo-fi indie sound reminiscent of bands like Pavement and My Bloody Valentine. Any listeners impatient with the three minutes of relatively placid build up will enjoy the brief but intense, thrashy instrumental which ends the track and opens a thrilling new chapter for Celestial Shore.
10x is out 3 September on Hometapes and Local Singer Records.
