Animal Language continue their streak of playful indie-pop with "Suckerpunch"

It's less than a month since Brighton bunch Animal Language graced us with their exploration of the post-graduate blues in "Peppermint Daylight". Now the trio return with the gut-driven, vigorous "Suckerpunch", and it doesn't look like they're slowing down.

Where "Peppermint Daylight" heard the band unfurl into a psych wig-out, "Suckerpunch" brings to mind the more incisive bite of their debut "Experiment", shared back in September of last year.

Ramshackle guitars rollick, drums snap and surf-pop harmonies glisten on "Suckerpunch"; a welcome accompaniment to a summer stroll or a breezy drive with the windows down. One suspects the trio band were jamming this long before the dreary nights closed in.

Speaking about the track, the band says "'Suckerpunch' was a bouncy jumble of chords that we couldn't quite make sense of at first... we're not even sure it makes sense now but we've finished it and that feels nice. "Lyrically, it touches on the lesser qualities of mainstream media - dishonesty, bombardment of slogans/advertisements... and spiders."
