Ezra Collective and Kojey Radical pay tribute to Tony Allen on new single "No Confusion"
Ahead of their Where I'm Meant To Be album arriving in full on Friday (4 November), Ezra Collective have delivered their new Kojey Radical collaboration "No Confusion".
"No Confusion" featuring Kojey Radical lands with a Douglas Bernardt-directed video, and is the fourth outing from Where I'm Meant To Be, following previous outings "Ego Killah", "Life Goes On" featuring Sampa The Great and "Victory Dance".
Bandleader Femi Koleoso says of the single, which is a tribute to the late Tony Allen, "Drum lessons with Uncle Tony didn’t just change my life, but Ezra Collective's. The most valuable thing he ever taught me was, always be yourself. Be who you are. Be proud of who you are. When you truly are who you’re meant to be, you have no confusion. "Confusion" by Fela Kuti is one of the only recorded drum solos by Uncle Tony - it’s so him, no one else could have played it. This track is so us. We’re at a place where we really know who we are as a band - and there’s "No Confusion" about it."
Where I'm Meant To Be will follow Ezra Collective's 2019 debut album You Can't Steal My Joy, and will feature new collaborations with Emeli Sandé and Nao.
"No Confusion" featuring Kojey Radical is out now. Ezra Collective will release their Where I'm Meant To Be album on Friday (4 November) via Partisan Records, and it's available to pre-order now.
