Rolling Stone writer Will Hermes to write “definitive biography” of Lou Reed
Renowned critic and Rolling Stone journalist, Will Hermes is set to pen a biography of late musician Lou Reed.
Hermes has previously written Love Goes To Buildings On Fire, a history of the New York music scene, and now will focus on one of the city’s greatest exports.
Speaking to the New York Times, the writer said that Lou: A New York Life would be a “full, definitive biography”. “I think we have yet to fully measure the loss,” Hermes added. “He was one of the greatest artists of our generation.”
The Velvet Underground singer, Reed died of a liver-related illness on 27 October, aged 71 years old. Above is the last ever photo taken of the musician, shot by Jean Baptiste Mondino a few weeks before his passing.
