Arbutus-signed Michael Stasis teases debut 'Greatest Hits' album with lo-fi psych "Crushed"
Arbutus Records-signed Michael Stasis is the kind of prolific musical wonder boy that gives Ariel Pink sleepless nights.
The LA-based singer/songwriter has accumulated several hundred songs over the the last few years and his debut is a ‘greatest hits’ that sees him sharing a label with the home of Braids (and former home of Grimes).
Stasis' sound might recall Ariel Pink in places but album teaser “Crushed” find a psych sound running through the song that’s far more visceral and vital than anything we’ve heard from Pink. His story might indicate he’s something of an outsider but this is music with the ability to connect and emote to: it’s exciting and filled with touches of genius.
