Stockholm electro-pop enigma,s Kate Boy have premiered their luminous new video for ‘In Your Eyes’, a track which featured on recently-released debut EP Northern Lights.
The emerging quartet’s Australian vocalist, Kate Akhurst is at the forefront of the self-produced promo; barefoot and dressed all in white save for the black baseball cap obscuring half of her face, she cuts a striking figure amidst the synthetic tundra. The rest of the band assembled around her pound out heavy-duty drumbeats on electronic pads as the canopy of lighting strips flicker on and off, working in tandem with Kate Boy’s febrile electronica. Simplistic yet unequivocally individual, Kate Boy have been dubbed “the new Knife” but in truth, they’re already well on their way to carving out a niche of their own in the Scandipop market.
