Mat Riviere – Not Even Doom Music trailer [Best Fit Premiere]
I’ve always said that if I ever decided to make music, if I had the energy to bother dusting off the ol’ MicroKorg from the attic, downloading Ableton Live, waiting for a minor emotional crisis before documenting all my heartache onto a four-track tape recorder then the results would probably just sound like a second rate Mat Riviere track anyway, so why even bother?
Luckily for myself and all the other post-teen angst and pre-middle aged jaded twenty- somethings currently stuck in emotional limbo, Mat Riviere is bringing out a new album soon so we can all bask in his existential turmoil once more.
Here we bring you the premiere of the extended trailer to Mat’s forthcoming record, Not Even Doom Music:
Self-produced and spliced with home footage, the subtitles read:
“We all put records out,
What are we meant to do next?
Stop kidding yourselves.
Nothing will make this okay.
Not even doom music.”
Obviously gonna be cheery stuff, I think we’re all going to have to be dumped to fully enjoy this one. Otherwise we’d just feel like utter frauds, wouldn’t we?
Mat had this little snippet to say about the clip:
“In this video i am trying to ‘conjure up’ a dystopian future in which absolutely everyone in the entire world has released an album on a small indie label. People in this bleak future world are forced to wander aimlessly around large airport like complexes thinking about what they have done. Whereas the last trailer had a sad but hopeful atmosphere this one is going to be more angry and desperate. These videos may or may not be accurate representations of how i am really feeling.”
