‘For You To Learn’ is a more stripped-down Jamie N Commons than we’re used to from tracks like ‘The Preacher’ and ‘Devil in Me’. Pushing a vocal that’s more fragile and folk-veined than fire, brimstone and whisky, the BBC Sound Of nominated singer-songwriter again reveals a surprising talent and delivery for one so relatively young.
For his Best Fit Session, we took Commons to one of the few fragments of the old London Bridge to survive its demolition in 1831 – a pedestrian alcove, restored and relocated alongside the circumference path in East London’s Victoria Park - as appropriate a location as one might expect for something old-made-new.
