Toy – Dead and Gone (Best Fit Session)
TOY have been a ubiquitous live proposition since the end of 2011. Announced to the world via a residency at hip London boozer The Shacklewell Arms and quickly-sold-out debut ‘Left Myself Behind’ they’ve garned more acclaim than most for a band shy of their first record.
But their self-titled album is finally about to drop and it’s a corker – 12 tracks of motorik-driven psych-drone that take their place on one of the best albums this year. At the heart of the record is ‘Dead and Gone’, a near-8 minute musical revelation that captures everything that makes the band such an exciting force for British music in 2012.
In the depths of a North London basement, Toy offered up ‘Dead and Gone’ for their Best Fit Session – relentless, frenetic and moody, it’s one of our favourites this year.
