Across ten years and six studio albums, Ane Brun has developed into one of Scandinavia’s best musical exports as well as one of the world’s most intriguing songwriting talents.

The Norwegian has worked with the likes Nico Muhly, Ron Sexsmith and Peter Gabriel as well as Swedes Robyn and Tobias Froberg (who produced her last album It All Starts With One). In March, she was over in the UK to perform an adaptation of Dido’s Lament but this month sees a career retrospective Songs 2003-2013 released, gathering together the best of her extraordinary career to date.

We first met up with Brun – a longtime favourite of Best Fit – last January when she performed ’Words‘. We heard she was back in town for a few days and petitioned hard for her to come back for another session. She obliged with a performance of the standout rack from sophomore record A Temporary Dive as well as an incredible cover version of ‘Feeling Good’, which you can watch this coming weekend. Check out ‘My Lover Will Go’ above.

Songs 2003-2013 is out now via Balloon Ranger Records. Ane Brun returns to the UK & Ireland for four shows in November
