Waiting for Smith's "I Like Life" is a sun-soaked gambol
“I Like Life” is the title-track from Waiting for Smith’s upcoming EP, which is set to see him ushering in a new era of optimism and happiness.
Based in the Netherlands, British artist Waiting for Smith (aka Harry Lloyd) often creates music that soothes the soul. Armed with the ability to craft uplifting, motivational lyrics, with sun-soaked melodies that spread a smile from ear to ear, his new music invites listeners to embrace the lighter side of life. His latest release “I Like Life” embodies this spirit. Probing the plain yet powerful message of “do you like life?” Lloyd encourages listeners to reflect on the little moments in their lives that spark joy. “It’s a question we all feel,” Lloyd adds. “It’s so simple but profound.”
Sonically, the shimmery new single instantly enters with a groove-laden beat, and irresistibly catchy lyrics. Layers of plucky guitars and harmonies add depth to the track, while maintaining the light-hearted vibe, providing the perfect anthem for spring. As our days start to get longer and warmer, “I Like Life” reminds us to be grateful for the small things.
Speaking about the conception of the single, the songwriter shares, “This song came about 4 years ago when I turned up to a writing session in Amsterdam. I didn’t wanna go that day because I felt kinda unmotivated - Ironically the song that appeared was the most uptempo thing I’d ever created.” It’s clear that Waiting for Smith has a knack for transforming life’s everyday moments into catchy, feel-good anthems. This signature blend of optimism and soul will be overflowing in the upcoming EP, and we’re eager to embrace it all.
