Palomino Blond call to the unrequited with "Understand"
Taken from the band’s upcoming sophomore album, You Feel it Too, "Understand" calls to the unrequited, unable to read between the lines.
Hailing from Miami, Palomino Blond are a three-piece putting the alternative back into alternative rock, offering an organic sound different to anything already provided by the local music scene. Similar to punk rock bands of the late-1970’s, Palomino Blond have fostered a strong DIY ethos to circumnavigate the mainstream, simultaneously creating a sound and aesthetic that cannot be tied to a single genre.
The first single to be taken from the band's upcoming sophomore album, You Feel It Too, set for release on October 4th 2024, "Understand" takes influence from the decade of heroin chic, blending together elements of shoegaze and alt-rock in a way that is reminiscent of My Bloody Valentine or Sonic Youth. Thrashing drums, needling guitars, and brooding vocals guide us through the shadows as we reflect on our own naiveties and longings for recognition.
Speaking on the track, the band explain "'Understand' is an intimate, wintery song. I was trying to freeze emotions that had been bothering me for a few years within a song. I wanted to translate a cold, spacious landscape through the instrumental, and a story through the lyrics. It's a very confessional song."
Boasting 11 tracks and a heavily matured sound,You Feel it Too is slated to be the band’s most extensive work to date. "Understand" provides just a taster of the album’s deep emotional complexity and experimentation with synths and electronic samples. Brace yourselves - this is just the warm up.
"Understand" is out now, ahead of You Feel It Too set for release 4 October 2024. Find Palomino Blond on Instagram.
