Lecx Stacy welcomes change with quietly confident new single “Winter, A Wilted Flower”
San Diego-born, Los Angeles-based artist Lecx Stacy has crafted a seasonal soundscape unfamiliar to anything you’ve heard before.
His latest single “Winter, A Wilted Flower” is demonstrative of this unique style, which blends emo folk, folktronica, noise and ambient into an intoxicating and heady mix. Raised in a Filipino-American household, identity plays a huge role in Stacy’s music, both sonically and lyrically, as the songwriter explores his heritage, culture and parallels between his and his father's lives.
“Winter, A Wilted Flower” is a beautifully melancholic track that leans into heartbreak and accepts it, rather than pushing it away, drawing comparison between fading leaves and fading bonds. Offering a quiet sadness, the song has a haunting and ethereal quality, where a jangly acoustic guitar sets the backdrop for Stacy’s echoing vocals. As he delicately chants, “Maybe someday you will love me, but I don't think that I can wait,” we witness the ache and emotion in his voice.
"This song is about the changing seasons," Stacy shares. "Leaves fading, falling, making way for something new. Around that same time, I watched certain relationships in my life change too, moving in step with the earth’s quiet ritualistic transformations."
Giving us a taste of what to expect from his upcoming album, Stacy is set to examine the fine lines where love, faith, and desire meet. All inspired by the stories his father told him whilst in the “folkhouses” in the Philippines. These informal music bars, where people would get together to drink and sing American folk/country songs, laid the foundation for the album – mirroring the warmth, melancholy, and storytelling spirit found in those late-night gatherings.
