Zoumer announces Life Delay EP with mishmish-featuring single
Danish-Algerian pop experimentalist Zoumer, aka Yasmina Derradj, has shared details of a new EP: Life Delay. The first single, "Round and round" featuring mishmish, is out today.
Life Delay follows e.a.l. (euro arab lovergirl), Derradj’s second album under the Zoumer name, released in March 2026. The new EP explores live instrumentation more than in the past, recorded with Daniel Zakaria Shooshtari on drums and co-producer SATNAV (Sebastian Zieler) on guitar and bass.
“Round and round” takes inspiration from the lyrics of Lebanese singer Fairuz’s “El Ouda Mensiye” (The Forgotten Room). It features Amman-based Syrian-Palestinian artist mishmish, whom Derradj met online after discovering her song “Bayez”.
Derradj said: “I wanted to explore new ways of sharing my songs, especially after I started co-producing and discovered how much I enjoyed it.”
The EP’s six songs are built around drum machines, live-recorded drums and guitars, percussion, MIDI woodwinds, horns, and field recordings. The title describes stepping into life a little later than others – but as a positive realisation that everyone's life follows a different timeline rather than a self-deprecating spin on the idea.
Life Delay is released 18 March 2027 via Big Oil
