yasiin bey and The Alchemist team up for a new project, FORENSICS
yasiin bey, (formerly known as Mos Def) alongside producer and DJ The Alchemist, have announced their forthcoming album, FORENSICS,alongside a livestream performance.
In a live stream performance on Bandcamp on Friday 7 February, yasiin bey and The Alchemist will perform FORENSICS for the first time, following on from their inaugural concert at Le Trianon in Paris on January 25th during Paris Fashion Week.
The FORENSICS project is the outcome of a collaboration between the two artists that began in Los Angeles in 2023, having been brought together by their mutual friend Chace Infinite.
Bandcamp users will have the opportunity to purchase a range of album-related merchandise items, caps and wearable artwork for now, all of which include a scannable ‘BUMP™’ tag.
The BUMP™ tag leads to an online link to register the owner on a secure website that will, initially, give access to a selected audio track from the FORENSICS album, replay of the live stream video, and the album art. This approach to putting out new material is the one of a number of upcoming releases intended to inextricably link the acquisition of music to the artwork, apparel and supporting video footage.
Tickets for the livestream performance are on sale now. The live stream costs $9.99, and will be available for replay to viewers for 48 hours after the event.
