Yard Act to return with new album, You’re Gonna Need A Little Music

Yard Act have announced their third album, You’re Gonna Need A Little Music, and shared lead single, "Redeemer".

You’re Gonna Need A Little Music follows the post-punk band's 2024 album, Where’s My Utopia?, and their 2022 debut, The Overload. The new record is said to see them at their most dynamic, collaborative, and energised, with the tracks highlighting some of their darker and more cynical moments, with "Redeemer" arriving today as the first preview.

You’re Gonna Need A Little Music was recorded between the band's hometown of Leeds and in Los Angeles with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Nine Inch Nails, Beck, St Vincent). The album marks the first time that the band have ever made an album together as a live band in one room, as vocalist James Smith describes Yard Act's previous two albums as "laptop albums".

The record is a product of the band having five months with no interruptions or external pressures, giving them space to write upwards of fifty songs that were narrowed down to a final tracklist of eleven. “It felt like freedom,” Smith says of the process. “It felt like everything I’d wanted from being in a band”
