Y, featuring members of Fat White Family, Meatraffle and Pregoblin, share debut single, "Why"
London newcomers Y have signed to Hideous Mink Records and SO Recordings and announced their debut self-titled EP.
Comprising of members from or involved with Fat White Family, Meatraffle and Pregoblin, Y is a genre-defying band founded by Adam Brennan and Sophie Coppin during a period of isolation.
Speaking ahead of their single, the band revealed: “‘Why’ is a song that calls everything into question - It’s an ode to the unanswered, endless questions from the trivial, to the deepest philosophical mysteries. Saxophone dominates the chorus as synth and guitar take the space of the traditional lyrical verses as ultimately we found THE question can only be answered through music.”
Y will be celebrating their debut single release at their home stage of The Windmill, Brixton on 24 January, before Feburary tour supports with Fat Dog and Keg, and a 24 April headline show at London’s 100 Club.
Y is set for release on 4 April, and is available to pre-order now.
