Winona Fighter announce second album Brutal & Extremely Underrated
Nashville punk trio Winona Fighter have shared details of their sophomore record, Brutal & Extremely Underrated, arriving early next year via Rise Records. New single “LEECH” is out now with a US headline tour set for 2027.
The album is the follow-up to their debut My Apologies to The Chef, released only last year. Having premiered “BOMBS AWAY” - a hardcore punk response to immigration raids in the US - earlier in the summer, the band have now released a new single, “LEECH”, which arrives with a video directed by Hannah Hall.
The band self-produced the whole record, with bassist Austin Luther recording at his home studio. Lead vocalist Coco Kinnon explores themes of friendship, insecurity, A.I., and distrust of the government, while Luther said the album-number-two pressure was real - "but we also felt we were making something that was really great. It’s not a sharp pivot, but it is an evolution."
The album was recorded over two sessions, one of which coincided with a Nashville ice storm that left their garage studio without heat. One song was co-written with PUP’s Stefan Babcock.
Winona Fighter will close 2026 at Vans Warped Tour in Orlando and support Taking Back Sunday in December. A two-leg US headline tour begins on 21 January 2027 in Bentonville, Arkansas. No UK dates have been announced yet.
