Whait detail debut album, sympathy at home
Whait — the project of Wendy Eisenberg and more eaze (Mari Rubio) — have announced their first full-length album, sympathy at home, and shared new single, "Falling down".
The album follows a digital-only debut hosted by the Residence Project and the pair's EP Icarus in Training, released back in May. On sympathy at home, the songs see Eisenberg and Rubio combine their musical languages into an intuitive, spontaneous experience of joy and discovery through sound. "Falling down" lands as the first preview of sympathy at home, arriving as a mesh of Americana and 2000s deconstructed pop.
sympathy at home was largely recorded in each artist's home studio in New York between touring schedules; the album showcases the dialogue between them. It arrives at a particularly busy time, as Eisenberg's is fresh off the back of their self-titled album, while more eaze has released two solo albums for Thrill Jockey this year. Combining Eisenberg's guitar with Rubio's violin, the pair are said to explore "a state of constantly becoming, embracing change and mutability", as the duo lean into improvisation and synchronicity.
