Watch Eydís Evensen live in session at Greenhouse Studios in Iceland
Classical music gamechanger Eydís Evensen joined us in Iceland late last year – during her appearance at Airwaves – for a special session recording of her debut single "Brotin".
The track was originally released two years ago to mark the launch of Evensen's label, the Sony imprint XXIM Records, which focuses on the development of innovative, progressive instrumental music around the world.
Teaming up with Record in Iceland for the film, we headed to the renowned Greenhouse Studios – a fully-equipped, purpose-built recording facility nestled in the suburbs of Reykjavík. The studio is a hub of activity as it functions as the creative home of the Bedroom Community label, and it has independently built a diverse and exceptional list of clients from all corners of the globe including Björk, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Damon Albarn, Feist, Brian Eno, Kanye West and John Grant.

Record in Iceland is a refund programme offered by Iceland’s Ministry of Culture and Business Affairs that gives anyone who records their music in Iceland a 25% refund on all recording costs incurred in Iceland. All you need to do is submit the total cost related to your recording – including travel, accommodation, wages and even post-production like mixing and mastering. The refund will go through in the following quarter. It’s that easy – and makes Iceland the smart and easy choice for anyone wanting to find an inspiring location to record their next album.
Up next for Evensen is an appearance at Eurosonic later this week; she'll perform at 8.45pm on Wednesday, 18 January at Akerk.
