Watch Dutch Mustard cover Kate Bush live in session for Best Fit
Dutch Mustard, the project of London's Sarah-Jayne Riedel, tackles the Kate Bush classic "Running Up That Hill" live in session exclusively for The Line of Best Fit in partnership with Crouch End Studios.
Sarah-Jayne Riedel, aka Dutch Mustard, tells Best Fit of the song choice, "Since "Running Up That Hill" has become super big again from its placement in Stranger Things (of which I’m a massive fan), I've had it on repeat. The drums and almost drone-like bass line, with emphasis on a synth hook is something I’m very much into, and of course Kate Bush’s vocal is absolutely gorgeous."
"I have to be honest, learning the song was not easy at all! It took me weeks of prep, but was a brilliant one to tackle," Riedel adds. "When I realised how I wanted to sing it I decided to create more space in the arrangement by using longer notes on cello, and by removing the final chord in the original progression. This felt more natural on the piano and guitar, creating a fuller texture, allowing the synth line and vocals to take the lead."
Dutch Mustard's latest EP An Interpretation Of Depersonalisation arrived in February.
