Voka Gentle announce their third album, Domestic Bliss
London trio William J Stokes, Ellie Mason and Imogen Mason – AKA Voka Gentle – have announced their third album, Domestic Bliss, alongside the release of new single, "K Sees The Deal Go Down".
Speaking about the single, Voka Gentle says: “It took two Steinways set up either side of a binaural microphone to realise this song really just needed one piano. And some tubular bells. K keeps her head so still, hovers above the back alley and sees the handshake happen: big words and big promises to make the small fry a big fish. It is about things that are dear to us: industry contacts, high growth potential, private equity solutions and brand awareness. The time has come: Creon is going to make you a king and you should trust him, even if he does take that Talking Heads lyric a little too literally.”
Characters are woven throughout Domestic Bliss, frequently used to explore the overarching theme of the album - power: the abuse of it, being on the cusp of it, what it really means…“Domestic Bliss came together amid turbulence in our three lives. But surely every exhausted generation since the dawn of civilisation has had its share of existential dread? Cycles of suffering churn through human history, time after time. Power is a constant— which is to say, constantly abused…”
