"Two perspectives sharing the same story": Victor Ray and Aiyana-Lee rework viral hit "You & I" as duet
Victor Ray has enlisted rising pop-soul artist Aiyana-Lee for a new duet version of his track "You & I", recasting the viral hit as a classic soul-style exchange.
The single arrives as Ray continues work on his debut album, following February's I AM mixtape – a collection that brought together his EPs to date alongside newer cuts such as "Disappear". That release marked a shift into more modern R&B territory for the Uganda-born artist, whose trajectory has taken him from busking on the streets of Newcastle and London to recording sessions at EastWest Studios in Los Angeles.
On the duet, Lee says she was already a fan of the original and welcomed the chance to add her own verse. “I think it feels like a true back and forth, two perspectives sharing the same story,” she says, noting the track deals with the feeling of unconditional love and “completely falling into someone”. Ray echoes that sentiment, saying Lee’s voice “makes so much sense” for the record, adding another layer and evoking the old soul duets he grew up admiring. He admits he wasn’t sure how she would approach it, but says she “didn’t hold back at all” and that he was “buzzing” when he heard the finished result.
Selected by luxury fashion brand MR PORTER as one to watch in 2026, Ray is steadily building towards a full-length debut, though details on that project are to be confirmed. In the meantime, listen to the duet below.
