Tyla announces second album A*POP, shares new single with Zara Larsson
South African singer Tyla has confirmed details of her sophomore LP, A*POP, alongside a new single "She Did It Again", featuring Zara Larsson.
An album trailer accompanying the announcement has the singer describing the new era as “unapologetic”, “confident”, and “global”. A*POP follows her 2024 debut TYLA and its deluxe edition TYLA+, the former of which made her the highest-charting African female soloist in Billboard 200 history.
The record’s title was first teased in the video for "Chanel", where the term was built into the set. That track gave Tyla her third Billboard Hot 100 hit, following "Water" and "Push 2 Start" – both of which won GRAMMYs for Best African Music Performance. .
Speaking
to Rolling Stone on the red carpet at this year’s GRAMMY ceremony, Tyla
said of the new record: “I just knew that as I lived through the making
of the album, it was going to fall into place, which it did. I feel
like I just did something really fresh and so… Tyla.”
Latest single "She Did It Again" accumulated over five million views on its official video in its opening weekend. Tyla has also shared "Chanel" as part of her Summer 2025 mixtape WWP, which introduced a collaboration with Wizkid titled "DYNAMITE".
Later this summer, Tyla will headline the Citi Concert Series on the TODAY Show in New York and play festival sets including Afronation in Portugal, Montreux Jazz Festival, Romania’s Beach Please!, and Italy’s Hellwatt Festival. She is nominated four times at next month’s American Music Awards, including Social Song of the Year and Best Music Video.
