Ty Segall details new album Chrome, shares first single “Black Paint”
Ty Segall has announced a new album, Chrome, set for release on 28 August. The record was written and recorded with his full live band and arrives alongside lead single “Black Paint” and a limited-run companion EP titled Love Fuzzz.
The album emerged quickly in spring 2025 after Segall felt a strong impulse to reconvene with the group that had backed him on earlier, heavier records. Ben Boye (keys, piano), Evan Burrows (drums), Mikal Cronin (bass, vocals), and Emmett Kelly (guitar, vocals) all feature across the record. The band spent a month playing through the material before tracking it in six days at Sonic Ranch with producer Cooper Crain, known for his work on Stereolab's latest record. Half the songs were written collectively, with remaining contributions from Burrows, Matt Yoka, and Denée Segall, Ty's wife.
The resulting sound follows in the vein of earlier Segall LPs such as Slaughterhouse and Twins, foregrounding a live feel that the band arrived at through extended rehearsal rather than studio isolation.
The same day Chrome lands, a limited-edition EP, Love Fuzzz, will also appear. It contains two tracks drawn from the album sessions: a reworking of a Twins-era song, “Love Fuzzz”, and “My Pet Guru”, described as fried-kraut psych.
A UK and European tour follows in September. Segall will appear at End Of The Road Festival in Dorset on 3 September, before headline slots at Manchester Psych Fest (5 September), Edinburgh Psych Fest (6 September), and a London show at the O2 Forum Kentish Town on 8 September. Further stops take in Amsterdam, Brussels, Berlin, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid and Lisbon. The run is preceded by a sold-out appearance at Seattle’s KEXP BBQ on 22 August.
Chrome is released on 28 August via Drag City
