Tune-Yards release standalone single ahead of North American tour
California art-pop duo Tune-Yards have released a one-off single, "The Ones", and will begin their North American tour in November. The tour is called The Ones That Love You, which is good to know.
Merrill Garbus called it “a song for right now: for admitting the ways we haven’t been there for each other, and resolving to stand up for each other, today, in all the ways we can. Revolution needs a driving beat, and we hope we can add to the great music fueling the movement.”
It follows her and Nate Brenner's last full-length studio album, Better Dreaming, released May 2025 on 4AD as well as their score for I Love Boosters. The absurdist comedy film, directed by Boots Riley, follows a group of shoplifters and stars Keke Palmer. The score was released back in May, including on Neon Pink vinyl via the band’s store. Tune-Yards also scored Riley's directorial debut, Sorry to Bother You, back in 2018.
The Ones That Love You tour opens in Chicago on 5 November before running through the North East - nine dates in total. Support for all shows comes from Rituals of Mine, the R&B-electronic project of Terra Lopez. Tickets are on sale now.
