Tricky to return with first album in six years, Different When It’s Silent
Tricky has announced his upcoming fifteenth album, Different When It’s Silent, and shared lead single, "Out Of Place".
Different When It's Silent follows 2020's Fall To Pieces, with "Out Of Place" being the first preview of the collection of songs. The song features vocals from longtime collaborator Marta, and it was originally written for her own album before it ultimately landed as the record's closing track.
Over the past few years, Tricky has released projects under different monikers via his own label, False Idols, but Different When It's Silent sees him return to his own name. The album was recorded between Tricky’s home in France and sessions in Bristol, blending blues, electronic sounds, and hip-hop rhythms, with vocals from Bristol singer Mitch Sanders present across many of the tracks.
Speaking of the upcoming release, Tricky says: “I just love making music. I’m grateful I’ve had the chance to live this life and keep creating.”
